Mahindra has set the tone for the future of its SUV lineup with the introduction of a groundbreaking modular vehicle architecture called NU_IQ, revealed during its Independence Day celebration. Alongside this advanced platform, Mahindra also showcased four striking SUV concepts—each representing a different approach to future mobility, design, and performance. This announcement reflects Mahindra’s strategic push to cement its place in the competitive compact and midsize SUV segments, both in India and globally.

Introducing the NU_IQ Modular Platform
The newly unveiled NU_IQ architecture is engineered with flexibility and adaptability at its core. According to Mahindra, the platform is set to underpin a wide variety of future SUV models. Vehicles built on this structure will range between 3.9 meters to 4.3 meters in length, placing them firmly in the compact and midsize SUV categories.
One of the platform’s key highlights is its generous 2.65-meter wheelbase, promising ample cabin space and comfort. Whether designed for families, adventurers, or daily commuters, vehicles based on NU_IQ are expected to combine versatility and interior practicality in equal measure.
Support for Multiple Drivetrains
The NU_IQ platform isn’t just about size—it’s about performance adaptability as well. Mahindra has confirmed that it will support both Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) setups, giving designers and engineers the freedom to create models tailored to a wide range of driving needs and terrain types.
Additionally, this architecture is future-ready, supporting an array of propulsion systems, including internal combustion engines (petrol and diesel), hybrid variants, and fully electric powertrains. This ensures that Mahindra can evolve with emerging market demands and global emission standards.

Design and Structural Highlights
Vehicles developed on the NU_IQ platform will offer an impressive ground clearance of up to 227mm, ideal for urban roads as well as rugged off-road conditions. One of the most innovative design elements is the flat-floor layout—a feature rarely seen in ICE-based SUVs. Mahindra believes this will set new standards for comfort and space optimization.
The platform also integrates weight-reducing construction techniques aimed at improving efficiency without compromising strength. Coupled with global safety compliance, NU_IQ ensures occupant protection while delivering performance and refinement.
NU_UX: Technology Meets Experience
To complement its mechanical advancements, Mahindra has introduced a suite of intelligent digital features under the name NU_UX. This tech ecosystem will likely include connected infotainment systems, advanced driver-assistance technologies, real-time analytics, and seamless smartphone integration—designed to enhance both driving and ownership experiences.
Unveiling the Four Concept Models
At the same event, Mahindra revealed four concept vehicles built on the NU_IQ platform. These were named Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT, and Vision.X. Each concept offers a unique interpretation of what the future of Mahindra’s SUVs might look like.
Vision.S
The Vision.S concept offers a glimpse into what could become the future generation of the Scorpio series. While maintaining Mahindra’s traditional rugged appeal, this model is expected to adopt a more compact and modern footprint, suitable for both urban and rural roads.
